In this specialization, students will acquire the necessary skills and terminology needed to be successful in the competitive world of Marketing . Topics include but are not limited to: advertising, retailing, merchandising, business operations, promotion, selling, economics, financing, distribution, inventory control, pricing, entrepreneurship and professional development . These skills will be acquired using a variety of techniques . While working in our practicum facility, The Hive, students will apply the theory component and learn first hand the key elements of operating a successful business . Throughout the three years in Marketing, students will visit local businesses to observe industry trends and standards . Marketing students will participate in several internships including The Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony, PA . Currently, students work in the Marketing and Sales department assisting staff members with cutting edge projects and daily Marketing assignments . In addition to the Marketing topics, students will be exposed to basic graphic design skills and digital photography .
Through actively participating in the Marketing program and DECA (An association of Marketing students) students will develop leadership ability, strengthen communication skills and demonstrate the professional skills necessary to succeed in today’s business world . Membership in DECA compliments and enhances the Marketing program . Participation in DECA gives students the competitive edge employers are seeking . Students seeking higher education have earned over $200,000.00 in scholarship money from being active members of DECA .
During the senior year, many students participate in the cooperative education program . This allows students to showcase their acquired skills at a live job site . These opportunities often lead to permanent positions upon graduation . Whether a student chooses to pursue post secondary education or enter the work force, he/she will be prepared with the skills needed to be successful . Articulation agreements with several local colleges and Johnson & Wales University are available .
Students enrolled in the Marketing program are eligible to enroll in SKILLS USA and will be eligible to earn certification in the following areas:
