This program provides students an opportunity to learn the theory, nursing, and leadership skills necessary to obtain useful and rewarding entry-level employment as a Nurse’s Aide, while also preparing the student for continued education in a two or four year nursing program or other health profession . The Nurse Aide program at CCTI is articulated with the Licensed Practical Nurse program at LCCC; this articulation allows students the opportunity to finish the LPN program in less time than traditional students entering the program . While at CCTI, students are given the opportunity to explore the many areas of health care such as physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, and nursing . This allows the student to make an informed decision regarding which area of health care to pursue . Theory and nursing practice are presented at CCTI while clinical experience is gained through affiliation with Blue Mountain Health Systems, St. Luke’s, and Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehab Center . Students in this program are eligible to join HOSA, SKILLS USA and DECA . Students are responsible for purchasing the safety clothing required for the program and obtaining clearances and tuberculine tests .
After meeting the pre-requisites for the approved Nurse Aide program, the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Examination is given after the students complete their requirements . Students may begin working as a Nurse Aide in their senior year through our Cooperative Education program .
