This program provides opportunities for students to prepare high quality food products in both a restaurant and cafeteria setting . Students learn cooking and baking techniques, sanitation standards, safety measures, customer service, menu planning, purchasing, receiving, storage, and inventory . All work is live, and therefore an excellent setting in which to gain skills for entry-level employment and/or postsecondary educational opportunities .
All course competencies satisfy the required knowledge and skills required under the American Culinary Federation, National Restaurant Association and PA SafeServe standards. This field is growing and offers opportunities for a variety of career options . Students in this program are eligible to join SKILLS USA and DECA .
Students are responsible for purchasing the safety clothing and obtaining a physical prior to admission.
