This program is offered in accordance with State Board of Cosmetology and the PA Department of Education requirements . To qualify for the Cosmetologist License, 1250 hours of attendance and attainment of course requirements must be completed within the three-year program . Subjects include anatomy, chemistry, hair styling, skin and nails, and state laws . Written tests prepare the student for the Theoretical State Cosmetologist Exam . Practical assignments on mannequins and students, as well as clinical experience, prepare students for the Practical State Cosmetologist Exam, and also provides entry-level skills . Students gain practical experience and customer service skills through the salon clinic, which is open to the public . Students in this program are eligible to join SKILLS USA and DECA . Students in this program must purchase the required kit and clothing (price range approximately $300 .00 – $400 .00) and obtain a physical prior to admission .
