This program is designed to provide entry-level employment skills in the following areas: practical mathematics for carpentry, blueprint reading, project drawings, estimating materials, and labor costs . The program includes instruction in layout, construction and installation of house structural members of wood, plywood, wall and ceiling finished materials, and interior trim, as well as the safe and proper use of hand and power tools . Practical experience is gained through work on various construction projects . Students will gain practical experience in carpentry and related construction trades by working on the School House Project as well as building sheds . Students in this program are eligible to join SKILLS USA and DECA . Students are responsible for purchasing the safety clothing required for the program .
