  • Air Conditioning Fundamentals

    Air Conditioning Fundamentals

     

    Tuesday & Thursday 6:00-9:00 p.m.

    32 Sessions; 96 Hours

    Servicing heating and air conditioning systems requires a solid knowledge in the fundamental principles of air conditioning system operation. This 96-hour course provides the background to understand both the theory and function of components used in heating and air conditioning systems. Key topics include: HVAC terminology, refrigeration cycle, system types, compressors, condensers, evaporators, metering device, refrigerant system controls and basic troubleshooting.

    • Information on the EPA Section 608 Technician Certification is included to help students prepare for refrigerant handling certification.
    • Math calculations are reviewed that are used by technicians, providing students with real-life job skills.

    WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS TRAINING

    This course is for new technicians or others in the industry who want a better understanding of air conditioning theory, components and troubleshooting of HVAC systems.

  • Auto Collision Repair

    Refinishing, unibody frame repair and safety will be covered in this course at the introductory level. The student will learn how to take damaged and/or rusted panels, starting with sanding and preparation, completely through the refinishing processes. The students will train using the latest in industry technology including tools, a downdraft spray and bake booth and the latest in frame rack setups. Unibody and conventional frame repairs will be discussed as well as the procedures the insurance companies use to prepare estimates.

     

  • CPR and AED - Adult/Child/Infant

    Heartsaver® CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult. This course teaches skills with AHA’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills.

    This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

  • Esthetician/Nail Technology

    Esthetician Course

    This program is designed to allow students to obtain their Pennsylvania Esthetician license upon completion of the state required curriculum and hour training. The course for the Esthetician license is a required 300 hours.

    Training will be given through theory and practical work to prepare students for the state required exam. There will be tests performed to evaluate each student’s knowledge of the subject matter.

    All students will be required to purchase a kit as required by state law and perform clinical duties throughout their schooling.

    Nail Technician

    This program is designed to allow students to obtain their Pennsylvania Nail Technology license upon completion of the state required curriculum and hour training. The course requirement for Nail Technology is a required 200 hours.

    Training will be given through theory and practical work to prepare students for the state required exam. There will be tests performed to evaluate each student’s knowledge of the subject matter.

    All students will be required to purchase a kit as required by state law and to perform clinical duties throughout their schooling.

    Cosmetology Refresher Course

    This program is designed to allow students who are in need of completion of the required hours to receive their license for Cosmetology in the state of Pennsylvania the opportunity to fulfill course training.

    Training will be given through theory and practical work to prepare students for the state required exam. There will be tests performed to evaluate each student’s knowledge of the subject matter.

    All students will be required to have or purchase a kit as required by state law and to perform clinical duties throughout their schooling. All students will also be required to have a notebook and textbook for class.

    Students can complete hours or earn hours toward Professional Development.

  • Electronics Technician

    Start at CCTI to learn the fundamentals and be on your way to become an electrical technician!

    This 180-hour program cover the basics of AC/DC, analog and digital circuits.
    We offer hands-on laboratory exercises for an in-depth application of theory learned in the classroom setting.
    Upon successful completion, the student will be eligible to take the examination(s) for Associate Electronics Technician (CETa)

  • Forklift Certification

    OSHA Regulated Fork Lift Training

    CCTI’s forklift operator training course covers the topics as specified in OSHA Regulation 29 CFR.1910.178 Section L. Forklift dynamics will be covered in detail including:  safe operating procedures, location and function of controls, pre-use forklift inspection, safe refueling procedures, hazards encountered in the workplace, operations/limitations of the forklift, load stability/ manipulation, and pedestrian traffic.  Certificates of completion and wallet cards will be issued upon successful completion of the course. Must be 18 years old to attend.

  • Introduction to Microsoft Office Excel

    Microsoft Excel is is the industry standard spreadsheet application. It features calculation, graphing tools, and tables.

    Introduction to Microsoft Office Excel will provide students an opportunity to experiment with spreadsheets. This course covers editing spreadsheets, adding headers, footers, hyperlinks, formatting and editing cells, conditional formatting, analyzing data lists, performing calculations, creating, editing and formatting, setting Excel Options and Workbook properties and more.

     

  • Nail Technician

  • Pharmacy Technician

    Pharmacy Technician Program

    This comprehensive 50 hour program will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician in a retail or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam.  Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names.  Through classroom lecture and hands on labs, students will review dosage calculations, drug classifications, the “top 200 drugs”, I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding, dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.

  • Photography

    Introduction to Precision Machine Technology

    This 100-hour course is intended to familiarize the student with fundamental machine shop practices for an entry-level position. It will include basic set-up and operation of various machines, surface grinders, drill presses, etc. Related math, blue print reading, layout, bench work, and safety rules. Students will receive a certificate of completion and a list of master competencies. Entry-level jobs may be milling and planning, set-up operators, lathe and turning machine, tool setters.

  • Residential Plumbing

    CCTI is offering a 42- hour Introduction to Plumbing course that teaches the skills you need for home repairs.  This course introduces you to basic plumbing tools, materials, and fixtures.  With this course, you will learn about:

    • International Residential Code (IRC)
    • Pipe Fittings & Parts
    • PVC Pipe
    • Working with coper pipe, soldering, flare, sand swag
    • Threading machine with black pipe
    • Gastite Certification
    • Faucet & toilet repair

    Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of a basic plumbing system.

  • Residential Wiring

    A basic background in house wiring. Learning experience will be covered with the layout, assembly, installation, testing and maintenance of electrical fixtures, apparatus, and wiring used in electrical systems. Instruction is provided in reading, interpreting and understanding of residential wiring based on controlling electrical codes.

  • PennDOT Safety Inspection Certification

    This program includes classroom preparation and test to be a licensed PA State Inspection Mechanic.  Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license in the class certification sought.  Certification is contingent upon successful completion of the entire program: twelve hours of theory plus written exam and a one-hour tactical test scheduled by the instructor at a later date.  Must be 18 years of age and have a valid (PA) photo driver’s license presented at registration.  Successful candidates in Class I cars may also test for Class II – Motorcycles, Class III – Trucks over 17,000 pounds, trailers over 10,000 pounds and buses, Class IV – enhanced inspector or writer.  Pre-requisite:  This course is designed for experienced technicians; prior knowledge in the field or hands-on experience required.

    ServSafe® Food Protection Manager 

    ServSafe® blends the latest FDA Food Code, food safety research and years of food sanitation training experience into a comprehensive curriculum. Managers learn to implement essential food safety practices and create a culture of food safety.

    The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) requires that every retail food service operation have at least one employee who holds a “nationally recognized food safety manager certification” such as ServSafe®.

    Participants will receive a ServSafe® certificate upon passing the proctored, multiple-choice exam with a score of 75% or higher.  To maintain certification, all individuals are required to pass a certification exam every five (5) years.

    Course Options:

    Home Study with Proctored exam: Recommended for food service professionals that need to brush up. No classroom instruction is provided. Participants receive a textbook for home study and then attend a proctored exam.  Call for exam times.

    Retesting: This option is provided for those who need to re-take the exam for continued certification or for those that have taken the course and did not pass the exam. Call for exam times.

  • State Approved Nurse Aide

    Prepare for the Pennsylvania State Nurse Aide registry and begin a career as a nurse aide. Develop your understanding of the legal and ethical standards of healthcare giving; medical terminology; residents’ rights and independence; infection control; and functions of human body systems. Gain supervised clinical experience and hands-on care skills with an emphasis on career awareness and job performance.

  • Welding Technology

    The Carbon Career & Technical Institute offers a 13-week comprehensive Welding Program for all skill levels – beginner through intermediate. Learn basic stick, oxyacetylene, MIG and TIG – classroom theory and hands-on training in cutting and welding steel & aluminum.

    Students will conclude program by taking the American Welding Society certification.
