Important Message from CCTI – Wed. 3/14/18
Following the tragic events at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February, some activist groups have been encouraging students nationwide to leave their classrooms and school buildings at 10:00 a.m. on March 14 to protest and to show solidarity to victims of school shootings. On March 14, CCTI students who wish to honor the victims of school shootings may report to the cafeteria immediately following homeroom for a group photo that we will forward on to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School along with a message of support through Twitter.
Students will not be permitted to leave their classrooms or the school building at 10:00 a.m. on 3/14/18 or on any day or time without permission from the administration. There are obvious safety and supervision concerns that arise when students leave assigned areas without permission and proper supervision and/or make it known publicly that they will be putting themselves in a vulnerable situation outside of the school building. Students who do leave classrooms and the school building without permission will be subject to the appropriate disciplinary action.
Let’s work together to safely honor victims of school violence.
